How to Buy a Real Registered Driver's License
Over the decades, law enforcement officials have tried many things to combat fake IDs. Holograms, water marks, dual photos and bar-coding have been used but they all can be thwarted by sophisticated counterfeiters.
You'll need two proofs of New York State residency to obtain a REAL or enhanced ID. Examples include your current driver's licence or non-driver's ID, bank statement or utility bill, or a pay stubs.
Real Documents Unit
The Real Documents Unit processes applications and renews existing licenses for individuals who are not eligible to get an ID card for a driver or non-driver card due to medical conditions. This process involves reviewing the person's medical history and determining if they're qualified to drive. If not, the license for that person could be suspended or revoked.
A person is deemed to be suffering from a medical condition that hinders their ability to drive in the event that the doctor or nurse treating them writes a report indicating that they are not able to safely drive or do not intend to drive again. The DMV may use this report to impose restrictions on a license for drivers, or to suspend or remove a driver's license.
You must present official documents that verify your identity and address in order to get a registered driver's licence. These documents must be current and official. You can use the utility bill or bank statement to verify your current address. A copy of your Social Security card can also be used to prove your identity and address. Once your application has been completed, you can visit any Secretary of State Driver Services facility to take your photograph and pass any required tests. Real Driver's Licence
The Real Driver's Licenses are a new form of identification that is compliant with the federal Real ID Act. The act set minimum security standards for state-issued drivers' licenses permits, ID cards, and permits and also prohibits federal agencies such as the Transportation Security Administration from accepting any card that does not meet these standards. They are: documents that prove identity such as driving licence, passport or birth certificate evidence of Social Security Number or ineligibility for Social Security Number; proof date of birth; two other proofs New York state residence. You should also have an up-to-date photo.

It is important to know that a New York enhanced or Real ID is more expensive than a regular driver's licence. This is because of the additional security features and appearance. A new bill has been introduced that would eliminate any transaction fees normally charged to people who get an enhanced or real ID, but that is not yet in effect. Plan accordingly for the future. If you frequently travel, it is worth getting a Real ID or an enhanced ID. This is particularly important if you are planning to travel within the United State. The additional security features will make you more comfortable in airports and at your destination.
